Accommodation
We’ll be staying in our own private lodge in Myoko Kogen, offering a cosy and authentic Japanese mountain experience. Archie’s Guesthouse has recently undergone a full renovation, so everything is fresh, comfortable and thoughtfully set up for our stay.
The lodge features a traditional Japanese-style layout with shared bathrooms rather than private ensuites. House amenities include a fully equipped kitchen, ski & snowboard storage, drying room, garage, high-speed Wi-Fi, heating throughout, fresh bedding and towels, plus a washer/dryer combo.
There are a few different room options to choose from, including a traditional tatami room with futons, a twin room with two single beds, and a shared room with a combination of single and bunk beds.
The lodge is conveniently located just a short drive from some of Myoko’s best resorts, including Akakura, Suginohara and Ikenotaira, making it an ideal base for exploring the different mountains throughout the week.

Travel/Flights
Guests are responsible for arranging their own flights and travel to and from Japan.
Getting to Myoko is straightforward, with two popular options:
Nagano Snow Shuttle – We recommend taking the Nagano Snow Shuttle, which offers direct bus transfers from either Haneda or Narita Airport to Myoko. We can assist with organising this transfer on request. Cost is roughly $150 + $20 each way for additional baggage.
Bullet Train & local Train – Alternatively, you can take Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo or Ueno Station to Nagano, followed by a train to Myokokogen Station.
We're more than happy to help you choose the best transport option to suit your travel plans.
Complimentary pick-ups and drop-offs between Myokokogen Station or Akakura Bus Stop and our lodge will be provided.

Getting to the Mountain
As part of this trip, we’ve organised two rental vehicles, giving us the flexibility to drive to the ski resorts each day. Our accomodation is a 5-minute drive from Ikenotaira Onsen, a 10-minute drive from Akakura Onsen & Suginohara & a 25-minunte drive from the slopes of Madarao. We will provide more information on our schedule closer to the start of the trip.
Schedule
Arrive in Myoko on February 4th. We will be riding for 5 consecutive days from the 5th of Feb. A detailed itinerary will be sent out 2 weeks before commencement of trip.
Group Size
We have limited the size of this trip to a maximum of 8 guests to provide each guest with a more personal, connected, and supportive experience.
Food
Daily breakfast food & supplies is included as part of your package, along with three group dinners at our favourite local spots in Myoko.
On the remaining evenings, we’ll head out and experience some of Myoko’s incredible restaurants, bars and local dining spots. Our accommodation also includes a fully equipped kitchen for those who prefer to cook and relax in our lodge. Lunches will be brought/purchased individually on the slopes each day.
Lessons
To ensure everyone has the best possible experience on the mountain, first-timers to lower-intermediate skiers and snowboarders are required to participate in two days of lessons on 5th & 6th of February.
Lessons are $170 per person, per day and are not included in the trip price. Please indicate your lesson requirements on the booking form when reserving your spot, and we’ll arrange everything for you.
Group Rides
Each day our hosts will be there to ride alongside the group, fostering a safe, fun and supportive environment. Please note that our group rides are not lessons or instructional sessions. Our hosts are there to ride alongside the group, provide general support where needed, and have an amazing time with each other on the slopes. The camaraderie & encouragement during these sessions is the most special part of riding together.
Travel Insurance
It is a requirement that each guest takes out their own comprehensive travel insurance that covers for snow sports. If you would like to ride off-piste during our time in Myoko it is a requirement this is also included in your comprehensive travel insurance policy. We require proof of insurance 30 days prior to the start of the trip.
Itinerary

Meet your host
Hi, I’m Steph! I’m an Aussie surfer and snowboarder with a passion for empowering women to get outside their comfort zones, try new things and believe in themselves. In 2019, I founded Groove Girls as a way to connect women and create a supportive space where everyone could feel encouraged to give things a go. What started as a community group hosting local surf sessions has grown into something so much bigger.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of hosting Groove Girls Surf Retreats, Snow Trips and community events across Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, Canada and Japan, bringing women together from all over the world to share new experiences, build confidence and create unforgettable memories.
During the 23/24 and 24/25 Northern Hemisphere winters, I based myself in Whistler, Canada, where I focused on developing my own snowboarding and spent the 2025 season working as a snowboard instructor. Along the way, I gained my CASI Level 2 and Park 1 snowboard instructor certifications, while continuing to host Groove Girls community snow events. There’s honestly nothing I love more than sharing the magic of snow sports and watching women discover what they’re capable of on the mountain. Whether it’s pushing through a challenge, building confidence or simply having the courage to give something a go, those moments are what make it all so rewarding.
My goal with Groove Girls is to create a space where women feel supported to step outside their comfort zones, back themselves, pursue the things they’ve always dreamed of doing and, most importantly, have an absolute blast along the way.
Bookings & Cancellations
Upon booking, we require a $500 initial deposit to secure your booking. We will contact you via email to complete the outstanding balance. Please expect emails 2-4 days after the deposit has been paid through our website. Deposits are non refundable.
We require that the remaining balance to be paid by 06/11/26. If you fail to complete the outstanding payment by 06/11/26 we will assume that you are no longer joining us, your spot will be listed back on our website & your deposit will not be refunded.
Cancellations and Refunds
We understand that plans can change, and we’ll always do our best to support our guests where possible. If you need to cancel your trip, please let us know as soon as possible. Refunds will only be considered for medical reasons or genuine emergencies up until 6th of November 2026 (excluding deposit).
Within the three months leading up to the trip, we are unable to provide refunds. However, if you are no longer able to attend, we are happy to accept a transfer of your booking to another guest, provided we are notified and the replacement guest meets any trip requirements. Please note that your original deposit will remain non-refundable.
As a small business, cancellations have a significant impact on our ability to cover accommodation, transport, suppliers and operational costs. Based on our previous trip experiences, we have implemented a non-refundable deposit policy to help protect the commitment we make when organising this experience.
We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance, including trip cancellation cover, at the time of booking your trip. This will provide peace of mind and help protect you financially should any unexpected circumstances arise before or during your trip.

Absolutely! We welcome all levels to join us. This is the perfect trip to learn to ski or snowboard with a bunch of like-minded women. Please keep in mind you will be required to book 2 x days of lessons if you are a first-timer - lower-intermediate rider.

Absolutely! If you are keen to try features in the park, dial in a new trick, build confidence on jumps, boxes and/or rails this trip is for you! We’ll have dedicated park sessions throughout the trip where you can gain cofidence at your own pace.

Yes! This trip is also designed for skiers and snowboarders who want to ride with other girls who like to send it. During the trip we will break off into smaller groups based on levels. If you’re intermediate-expert we will be finding powder lines & exploring tree runs so you can challenge yourself in a positive atmosphere.

Absolutely! Most of the women who join our trips come solo. It is always the most warm and welcoming environment to meet new people, and you will most likely walk away with a new group of friends you can go on snow trips with.

Yes, guests are responsible for booking their own flights to and from Japan. We are happy to help point you in the right direction with airport transfers and logistics to travel between Narita/Haneda Airport and Myoko.
